Morning Rituals
Do you have any morning rituals for getting dressed in the morning?
I have a specific work morning routine. I wake up 3 hours before; I chill, then I get up and do my makeup for an hour, give or take, then I use my random number generator, I have catalogued and assigned a number to each piece of my wardrobe and I use that to put my outfits together.
Wow I love that, very Cher in Clueless!
Sometimes I get a formal dress and I’ll change it, but for the most part I will wear what is generated.
Inspiration
Who do you look up to for inspiration on social media and in real life?
In terms of anyone, Carrie Bradshaw. Specifically season 3 Carrie. She dresses very girly, but she also wears the most random things and puts them together and makes them look cool — I also like doing that. When I was younger I took a lot of inspiration from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She wears a lot of cardigans and little floral dresses. Some people think it’s a bit kitschy but I love it. Currently I love Devon Lee Carlson. I would say she is the person I take inspo from most at the moment.
Style Identity
How would you describe your style in a brief couple of words?
I would say I’m very… feminine. I like lace and ribbons in a nostalgic way.
Vintage Hunting
If you’re digging through racks at an op‑shop, vintage store or curated consignment store, what brands are you looking for?
In terms of designer items, I’ll always be searching for John Galliano. I love Prada, especially now because I’m trying to dress more chic at times and Marc Jacobs for more quirky, weird things. More accessible brands would be Juicy Couture, I wear a lot of Juicy Couture and Alannah Hill, I have a lot of my mum’s older Alannah Hill dresses from when she was younger.
Unpopular Loves
Are there any pieces that may not be trending anymore that you still love?
I feel like people don’t really like mesh tops anymore… but I still love them and wear them all the time. I also wear a lot of cardigans, which I think people think makes me look like a grandma, but I don't really care.
Favourite RetroStar Piece
What is your most beloved piece from RetroStar?
I have this polka dot bubble skirt… I also have this Dolce and Gabbana yellow top that I love, with rhinestones and calligraphy.
