RETROSTAR ONLINE FAQ

When do you put up new items?

As often as possible! We are always finding fantastic pieces we want to share with youand try to add new items to our site on a daily basis. Did you know most of our online items are exclusive to the online store and can’t be found in our city store either? You never know what you will find in the depths of our online rails so please check back regularly!

I have seen a product that I loved but it no longer seems to be available. Now what?

This is the fantastic and equally heart breaking part about vintage clothing. With exception to our items listed as NEW, everything we put up is one of a kind; it’s what makes vintage clothing so unique! The downside to this is that once it’s gone? It’s gone for good. The best advice we can give is if you see something that you like? Get it before somebody else has a chance. You snooze, you WILL lose!

Have these garments been washed before I receive them?

All of our second hand items have been steamed prior to posting them; however we do not pre-wash our garments. Washing clothes is a controversial subject when handling vintage as people are always arguing over the pros and cons of washing vs. dry cleaning. For this reason we leave that decision up to you!

What happens if I forget my sign-in information?

Don’t worry, we do this all the time too; who’s got time for remembering passwords?! If you click the ‘login’ button on the top left hand side of the store you’ll notice a ‘forgot your password’ button. Simply give this little guy a click, follow the prompts and let our system do the rest!

How do you measure your items?

Vintage sizing can be a tricky thing; it seems that over the years body shapes and sizes have changed so it’s really important to us that our customers understand the measurements of the items we are selling. Where possible, the garment’s size that is printed on the label will be mentioned, but please use this as a guide only. As sizing fluctuates greatly from country to country, from era to era, and from manufacturer to manufacturer, trying to translate vintage sizes into the standardised sizing systems we use today is no easy task! We’ve given detailed measurements for all of our items, and the image below will help show you what we mean when we are talking about HOW we measure these areas.
To help you make the best choice for your shape and size, grab your trusty tape measure and use the measurements provided in each item’s description to compare the fit against your favourite clothes you already own. Whether you are measuring yourself or your favourite pre-owned garment, please refer to our measurement guide to make sure we’re seeing eye to eye.
We measure our items by laying the garment on a flat surface, and in centimetres only. You only need to measure one side of your garment for Arm Length and Shoulder Width, however for Bust, Waist and Hip measurements, you will need to double the measured amount to get an accurate size.
Please note: Garments with a batwing sleeve or no structured underarm seam, have the chest measurements estimated as to where the seam would be if there were one.

How does postage work?

POSTAGE - We currently post daily between Monday to Friday each and every week. Most items posted before 4:00pm AEST will arrive within 5-7 business days depending where in Australia you’re located.

STORE PICKUP - Your orders will be ready for pickup at our City store from 2:00pm AEST every Tuesday. If your order is made before midnight on a Monday, it will be at our City Store after 2:00pm AEST on Tuesday (the next day).

If your order is placed on a Tuesday (any time after midnight Monday) your item will not be at the store until the following Tuesday week. Please keep this in mind if you need your item quickly, as you may prefer to have your order shipped instead.

Do you offer express post?

Yes! Simply select ‘Express Postage’ from the drop down menu upon checking out and your order will be with you within 2-3 business days.

If I buy more than 1 item will you combine postage?

Absolutely! Our nifty little system calculates the weight of your purchased items individually and combines these to give you the cheapest possible postage options for your entire order.

I have just placed an order. Can I change it or cancel it?

Our online store system is completely automated and in most cases, we cannot make amendments to your order once confirmed. If you’ve made a mistake or found a cooler item you’d like to swap for, there is a CHANCE we can make it happen, but no guarantees. Be sure to email us ASAP at retrostarshopify@gmail.com and we’ll do our best to help you out, provided your original order hasn’t already been shipped or processed by our warehouse team. If you wish to cancel an order, you can do so at no cost prior to us posting it, or if you have already received your items, you may return this at your own expense. Please see our returns policy for further information below.

I bought an item and I’d like to return it; what do I do?

Oh no! Something happened to it in the mail? Did we miss a fault in the listing? Does it not fit how you imagined?

If you need to to return your purchase(s), please contact us within two days of receiving your order. We ask any returned orders to reach us within 7 days of receipt to be granted an online store credit for the amount of your garments, minus postage. Unfortunately we don't offer refunds (unless of course, the fault is ours.)

All goods must be unopened/unworn/unchanged, in their original packaging and labels, with all items subject to inspection upon return. Due to our automated system we are unable to refund the cost of the original postage as well as any additional cost incurred by returning the item (unless of course, the fault is ours). And sorry, but no refunds will be provided for any items lost in the post upon their journey back to RetroStar land. We’re sure your postie will look great in their new swag though!

Once we have received your item, we will email you with a special code to use on your next purchase.

I’ve got a question - How can I contact you guys?

You can email us at retrostarvintage@gmail.com at any time and one of our staff will get back to you ASAP! For non-online related queries you’re welcome to phone our City Store, although please be mindful they are unable to answer any questions about our online shop.
